OVILLA — The state-ranked Ovilla Christian Lady Eagles found themselves in quite the last-second predicament in a recent non-district basketball game.

And Maddie Remek delivered against Henrietta Midway as the buzzer rang on the Lady Eagles’ home court. The work, however, was far from over for No. 8 Ovilla Christian as the game turned toward overtime on Jan. 22.

London Upchurch inbounded the ball along the baseline opposite the scorer’s table and near midcourt. Tessa Henry caught the pass, quickly turned and moved the ball upcourt to Maddie Remek in the right corner.

Remek drilled the three-pointer to tie the game at 51-all at the buzzer.

The Lady Eagles went on to outscore Henrietta Midway 11-8 in overtime for the 62-59 home win.

Audrey Nunes and Henry led the Lady Eagles with 24- and 23- point double-doubles, respectively. Henry pulled down a team-high 14 rebounds, while Nunes had 10. Henry also added a game-high six blocks.

Remek scored nine points with four rebounds and five assists, while London Upchruch added six points to her three rebounds, three assists and three steals.

As a team, the Lady Eagles shot 52.2% from the field and 28.6% from beyond the arc. They also overcame losing the turnover battle, 35-21.
