The bi-district championship week of the high school football season saw these four student-athletes stand just a little taller than the rest. Cast your vote early and often before the poll closes at noon Friday! The KBEC Sports Player of the week is presented by Ellis Down Home and KBEC 1390AM/ 99.1FM.

Who will be the bi-district KBEC Sports Player of the Week?

CJ Palmer (Red Oak) has been nominated for the KBEC Sports Player of the Week for a sixth time — though he's still lacking a win in the fan vote. The senior running back led the Red Oak offense to a 55-24 victory Friday night against Everman in the 5A Division II bi-district championship at Billy Goodloe Stadium. Palmer led the Red Oak offense with 19 carries for 204 yards and three touchdowns. The senior running back scored two of his three touchdowns in the first quarter from 8 yards (7:09) and 1-yard (2:03) out for a 14-0 Red Oak lead. He eventually tacked on a third first-half rushing touchdown for a 31-7 Red Oak lead. Red Oak will now face Denton Braswell, a foe that defeated the Hawks in a week-one headscratcher, 48-27, at 7 p.m. Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
Cullen Stone (Midlothian Heritage) accounted for over 150 yards and two touchdowns in the Midlothian Heritage overtime win against Henderson. The Jaguars scored four of the final six touchdowns in regulation and then once in overtime for the thrilling 27-30 bi-district championship. Stone rushed four times for 34 yards and two touchdowns, while also catching a game-high 12 passes for 134 yards (11.2 YPC). Heritage returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Navasota at Waco Midway Stadium.
Miguel Padron (Avalon) accounted for 92.7% of the Avalon Eagles offense during a 1A Division I bi-district championship victory against Leverett's Chapel. Behind Padron's efforts, Avalon scored 45 second-half points in the 51-12 win. Padron once again led the way for the Eagle offense, this time scoring five total touchdowns and accounting for 343 of the 370 total yards amassed Avalon. The senior quarterback rushed a game-high 28 times for 246 yards and five touchdowns. He also completed 6-of-his-15 passes for 97 yards and one touchdown to Adrian Sanchez (4-59). The Eagles face (10-1) Saint Jo at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Dylan Tyree (Palmer) is up for his second-consecutive KBEC Sports Player of the Week award following a three-touchdown performance against Hamilton. Tyree scored his three rushing scores on 22 carries that totaled 118 yards (5.4 YPC) in the 3A bi-district win for the (11-0) Palmer Bulldogs. Tyree was selected as the week 11 KBEC Sports Player of the Week after he received 312,205 (53%) of the record-setting 589,055 total votes. Palmer faces (8-3) Holliday at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Mineral Wells High School.
