The Ennis basketball boys bounced back from a tough road loss against state-ranked Midlothian with a convincing home win against Joshua on Tuesday.
Thanks to the victory, the Lions will begin the second half of District 14-5A with a 3-3 mark in district action. And they’ll do so at home Tuesday against Corsicana, who Ennis previously defeated 58-54 on Jan. 3.
The Lions also sandwiched an 80-70 district home win against Cleburne between the Corsicana and Joshua dubs.
In that win, Dee Johnson led all scorers with 27 points and Laylon Spencer added 25.
Ennis is currently 3-14 on the season. It is important, however, to remember that the Lions had to begin the season without several key players — like Spencer and Johnson — due to the success of the football team.
Ennis is currently in third place in the 14-5A standings, trailing only Midlothian and Red Oak — both remain unbeaten and set to face each other at 8 p.m. Friday in Midlothian.
