FOOTBALL PREVIEW: Venus Bulldogs

By Travis M. Smith | Ellis County Sports Sports

Despite being in just a five-team district and under the first-year head coach Terry Spray, the Venus Bulldogs have their work cut out in order to make the District 4-4A playoffs.

Both Glen Rose and Ferris are virtual locks and Godley is surely formidable, meaning the Oct. 18 game against Hillsboro could determine the playoff fate of the Bulldogs.

Venus returns 16 varsity players and a whopping 13 starters from the team that finished 1-9 overall (0-4 in 4-4A) in 2018. Ten of those returning starters come from the offensive side of the football.

Dave Campbell’s Texas Football predicts District 4-4A Division II to finish:

  1. Glen Rose
  2. Ferris
  3. Godley
  4. Hillsboro
