HOW THEY STACK UP

The Panthers entered the week ranked 12th in the most recent TABC 5A poll. They trail No. 10 South Oak Cliff (18-6) and No. 11 Dallas Kimball (18-6) on the outside of the top-10.

District and county-foe, Red Oak, meanwhile, began the week as the 16th-ranked team in the TABC poll.

Other nearby 5A teams include No. 1 Lancaster, No. 17 Burleson Centennial and No. 19 Mansfield Timberview.

As for the District 14-5A standings, (18-7) Midlothian and (15-11) Red Oak are both a perfect 5-0 ahead of Friday’s showdown. Ennis is currently third in the district standings with a 3-3 mark.

Midlothian has outscored its district opposition 329-190 thus far, or 65.8 points per game to 38.

UP NEXT

Midlothian and Red Oak will stand toe-to-toe at 8 p.m. Friday on the Panthers homecourt. It will be the first of two crucial meetings this season.

After all, it was just one season ago that Midlothian upset Red Oak in the final game of the regular season to claim a share of the District 14-5A title.
